The Town of Guttenberg offers a variety of senior citizen activities, programs, and services for the seniors in our community. These include the following:

• Movie Program: The Town of Guttenberg offers discounted movie theater trips on the fourth Tuesday of every month to the Regal Movie Theater in Secaucus. The cost for the movie ticket and round-trip transportation only is $5.
   
• Free Daily Shopping Trips: We have free daily shopping trips Monday through Saturday. There are designated pick-up stops throughout the Town of Guttenberg. We go shopping to a variety of local supermarkets such as Trader Joe’s, Shoprite, Mill Creek Mall, Edgewater Commons, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Dollar Tree, and Food Bazaar.

• Free Mall Shopping Trips: We offer two free shopping trips per month to a variety of malls in our area including Garden State Plaza Mall and Bergen Town Center in Paramus, Newport Mall in Jersey City, The Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth and The Shops at Riverside Hackensack.
   
• Free Medical Transportation: We offer free daily medical transportation Monday through Friday. We service all hospitals, medical facilities, and private doctors within our region. We recommend making reservations at least two weeks in advance.
   
• Free Summer Pool Trips: We offer free trips to the Secaucus Swim Center on Saturdays throughout the summer. Free transportation is provided by the Town of Guttenberg.
   
• Monthly Birthday Luncheon: We have birthday luncheons at a variety of local restaurants in our area, typically on the first Friday of every month. The cost is $15 per senior with a discount to $10 for seniors celebrating a birthday that month. We provide free transportation to the restaurants.
   
• Senior Center: We have a Senior Center located at 7005 Blvd East. Many senior activities take place at this location throughout the year. Free transportation is available.
   
• Guttenberg Nutrition Program: Affordable food services for seniors are administered and distributed from the Senior Center. Call 201-868-2315, ext. 137 to sign up or for more information.
   
• Bingo: Bingo is held three times a week: Monday and Thursdays at 6 p.m. at 7005 Blvd East and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. at 136 69th St.
   
• Holiday Bingo: For special holidays we host themed bingo events with the chance to win holiday-themed gifts.
   
• Casino Trips: We offer trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, Wind Creek in Pennsylvania, Empire City in Yonkers, and Resorts World Catskills and Hudson Valley in NY.
   
• Free Tax Filing: Our seniors have the opportunity to have their taxes prepared and filed seasonally at no cost to them by an accountant in town.
   
• Free Senior Snow Plowing Program: We assist our senior residents with snow plowing for free as long as they are the homeowners and live in the property.
   
• Social Activities: Once a month we promote social interacting while engaging in a different activity each time, including doing puzzles, painting, playing games, and more. Activities take place in the Senior Center.
   
• Yankee Baseball Games: We go to New York Yankees baseball games in the Bronx. The tickets are discounted and we provide free transportation.
   
• Red Bulls Game: We go to Red Bulls Soccer games in Harrison. The tickets are at a discounted price.
   
• Special Outings: We have many day trips to places including Medieval Times, Amish country, Cape May, Radio City Music Hall, and more!
   
• Art Classes: We offer a free watercolor art class to our seniors every month with all materials included.
   
• Special Events: We have many different special events for the senior community throughout the year. Celebrations include dinners/parties for Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, summer luaus, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the holiday season. In addition, there are concerts, farmer’s markets, outdoor movies, flea markets, and many more special events.
   
• Free Wellness Day: Every month a selection of healthcare vendors such as Palisades Medical Center and North Hudson Community Action Corporation visit the senior building to provide seniors with information, screenings, and handouts at no cost. Seminars are often also presented.
   
• Free Exercise Classes: We offer a variety of classes in tai chi, yoga, aerobics, water aerobics, and fitness with a professional instructor. Check the monthly calendar on the town website for details.
