INTRODUCTION OF A NEW PROGRAM TO HELP THOSE WHO WANDER OFF
The Town of Guttenberg Introduces a new program sponsored by the Hudson County Sheriff's Office, called "Project Lifesaver." This program provides transmitter bracelets to individuals suffering from conditions that make them prone to wandering away from home, such as those people afflicted with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injuries or cognitive disorders.
The participant in PROJECT LIFESAVER will wear a special wrist bracelet equipped with a small transmitter which emits a signal that law enforcement can track when someone goes missing. This project will allow for a proactive response by the sheriff’s office and save precious time if and when a loved one wanders away from home and becomes lost or confused. Search times have been reduced from days and hours to minutes.
There is no charge for this program. The only cost involved would be for the necessary change of the battery in the transmitter as needed.
Any interested parties can come to the Guttenberg Office of Public Safety in Town Hall, 6808 Park Avenue to pick up an application. If you have any additional questions, you are asked to contact the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Community Relations Unit at (201) 217-5226 where additional information can be obtained.
