The Town of Guttenberg is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time Superintendent in the Department of Public Works. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and oversight of the Town’s Department of Public Works. This position entails all aspects of planning, budgeting, supervising, and directing public works operations, including the maintenance and operations of all municipal buildings, park facilities, equipment, fleet maintenance, roads, snow and ice removal, among others. May also oversee Clean Community activities and programs.
Possession of a current and valid Certified Public Works Manager (CPWM) certification issued by the State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs and Recycling Coordinator Certification or willingness to obtain certifications within two (2) years of appointment is required. Five years (5) of supervisory experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sewer, water, sanitation, storm water, snow removal, heavy construction, and typical maintenance work in municipal public work operations preferred.
Applicants may also be required to perform manual labor under all weather conditions and be able to understand and carry out verbal instructions. Applicants must also have a valid NJ Driver’s License. Salary will be commensurate with the salary ordinance.
