There’s a delicious new option for meals in Guttenberg. Que Chilero Mucha is now open at 6714 Bergenline Avenue, offering a wide selection of authentic Guatemalan treats.

Owners Edgar Ajpuac Par from Guatemala and his wife Angela Huitil from Mexico spent years looking for the perfect location to open their first restaurant before finding the ideal spot in Guttenberg. Their goal was to offer traditional Guatemalan foods in a comfortable setting for families to come enjoy a rich, relaxing meal.

Taking over the site from a corner bar, they completely gutted and renovated the interior, installing a full kitchen and appealing South American décor. The extensive menu features a wide variety of Latin foods, including churrascos, tacos, tostadas, nachos, tamales, chorizo, carne asada, fish, salchipapas, churros, and much more.

Guatemalan favorites include subanik, a ceremonial stew made with a variety of meats, chili peppers, and spices, considered one of the country’s oldest and most beloved dishes; pepian, a thick, flavorful stew that blends ancient Mayan culinary traditions with Spanish colonial influences; and hilachas, a hearty, flavorful dish made by simmering tender beef in a rich, tomato-based sauce seasoned with chilies, onions, garlic, and aromatic spices.

And don’t skip the snacks, side dishes, or drinks, with hot and cold favorites including fresh juices and atol de elote, a simply heavenly sweet corn soup.

The restaurant opened on Jun. 26, 2026 with a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by Councilman Richard Delafuente, Community Services Coordinator Marisol Montanez, the restaurant owners, staff, family, and friends. They’re open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.
