A Hot Night on the Dancefloor Welcomes Independence Day Weekend

Posted July 03, 2026
When the weather is hot, Guttenberg residents know what to do: DANCE!

DJ Night on Thursday, Jul. 2 attracted a huge crowd to Monument Park despite the record-breaking heat wave. Attendees mingled in the park, enjoying the breeze over the Palisades and the view of ships already anchored in the Hudson River in advance of Independence Day, and danced the night away to the tunes of DJ Oz.

They also dined on a free BBQ of hot dogs and burgers, courtesy of Assemblyman Larry Wainstein, who wandered through the crowd greeting everyone. Mayor Wayne Zitt thanked the Assemblyman for his support and generosity, and wished attendees a very happy Fourth of July holiday, joined by Council Members Richard Delafuente and John Habermann.

Guttenberg’s DPW workers deserve special thanks for laboring over a flaming grill for hours in the sweltering heat. The Luis ice cream truck and Hollywoods Italian ices stand both did outstanding business, of course, and the town provided hundreds of bottles of free water.

The tremendously popular event was organized by Community Services Coordinator Marisol Montanez, who kept things lively throughout the night with the aid of numerous town employees and volunteers.
