GPD Supports Special Olympics with Annual Torch Run Fundraiser
Posted June 05, 2026The Hudson County portion of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run took place on Friday, Jun. 5 with numerous officers from the Guttenberg Police Department participating.
Starting at exactly 9 a.m., the officers joined with others from various North Hudson municipalities to begin the run at the north entrance to Braddock Park and proceed down Bergenline Avenue through Guttenberg.
The Annual Torch Run helps fund Special Olympics New Jersey’s Summer Games taking place on The College of New Jersey campus from June 7-9.
New Jersey has been at the forefront of the Torch Run movement since 1984 when it launched the first statewide Torch Run for Special Olympics. In 2024, over $4 million was raised by more than 3,000 officers through local and statewide events including the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
