Hundreds Enjoy a Fun ‘Night Out’ on the Town
Posted August 08, 2025More than 700 residents and guests attended Guttenberg’s annual Night Out Against Crime event on Tuesday night, Aug. 5, 2025 in the GSL parking lot. Mayor Wayne Zitt not only hosted the night, he climbed into the dunk tank and walked away soaking wet.
Carnival attractions, bounce houses, and games lined the parking lot, along with plenty of free food, including hot dogs from the Guttenberg Trolley, free popcorn, ice cream, cotton candy, snacks, and even a dessert cart featuring a chocolate fountain in which to dip fresh strawberries and bananas.
Kids were treated to face painting and temporary tattoos, plus giveaways like firefighter helmets, coloring books, crayons, goodie bags, as well as footballs, basketballs, and soccer balls. Adults had a chance to win two giant TVs generously donated by Danny Jimenez.
And that’s not even mentioning the main attraction: the band Finish This, who performed a terrific set of classic soul, R&B, and pop hits.
Among the dignitaries at the event were Council Members Richard Delafuente, John Habermann, and Juana Malave, Town Administrator Cosmo Cirillo, Police Chief Frank Pelaez, Fire Official Al Salveson, and Community Services Coordinator Marisol Montanez. They were joined by a small army of volunteers who ensured everyone had a great time.
Vendors and organizations with tables full of giveaways included CareFinders, Community Care Partners NJ, Freedom Bank, Goya, HCST, Hudson County Department of Health & Human Services, Hudson Pride Center, North Hudson Community Action Corporation, PNC Bank, along with Guttenberg PBA Local 88, Fire Prevention, and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.
