Message from Mayor Wayne Zitt Re: Spotted Lanternfly Mitigation
Posted August 01, 2025“Dear Residents,
“Over the past several months, the Town has been coordinating with Hudson Regional Health Commission to mitigate spotted lanternflies within our area. I am happy to see that our efforts have resulted in fewer reports of lanternflies than in years past. In working with the Commission, they will be applying pesticides, under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Williams, Superintendent of Mosquito and Vector Control, using an unmanned aircraft (drone) along Boulevard East.
“The pesticide used will be omni bifenthrin 2EC, which is recommended for the control of spotted lanternflies by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture. Products will be applied by drone flying at low altitude directly to the tree canopy as a course spray and is not expected to drift into public areas.
“For updated information on time and location application, or to report spotted lanternflies to the Commission, please call 201-223-1133.”
