The lines were long when Mayor Wayne Zitt and the Town Council began distributing free food to residents on Wednesday, Apr. 9, and every single person who showed up walked away carrying a bag loaded with groceries.

 

The town holds periodic food giveaways at Town Hall for residents and this one offered a wide variety of items including rice, pasta, canned goods, and more. The town pantry was fully stocked for the event, with Mayor Zitt personally handing out the goods, along with Council Members Monica Fundora, John Habermann, William Hokien, and numerous town employees and volunteers.

 

By the end of the event, the pantry shelves were practically bare, ready for restocking for the next giveaway.
