There’s a new team in town offering high-quality haircuts, beard trims, color, gray blending, hot towel shaves, facials, and more. God Above Studio officially opened its doors with a ribbon cutting by Mayor Wayne Zitt and the Town Council for their brand-new location at 6818 Kennedy Boulevard, complete with on-site parking.

Owners Richard Barth, his wife Genesis, and stepson Andrey Velez are all highly experienced professionals with a deep commitment to quality. Rather than standard products like L’Oreal or Paul Mitchell, they prefer Aveda and Kizo Lab for hair care, shampoos, gels, clays, and facials. “We want to offer services and atmosphere totally different from what this area has to offer,” said Richard, who has been in the business for 25 years, most recently at Studio Z in Hoboken.

Coming soon are services for women featuring Le Mieux skincare products along with women’s highlighting, straightening, keratins, blow drying, and damage repair treatment. In addition to her 22 years as a skin therapist, Genesis has been a skin care teacher for more than 15 years with the Robert Fiance Beauty School.

They were in the market for a location to open a studio together when the family stopped at Dairy Queen one night and spotted the building across the street. “As soon as we set foot inside we said we want it,” said Richard. “We were waiting for this opportunity, praying. It felt like God’s calling.” Which explains the name of the studio. “We’re heavily Christian faith,” he said. “We want to shine the light on people who come in here.”
