May 19-25 is DPW Appreciation Week
Posted May 20, 2024Most people don’t realize the extent of what the Guttenberg Department of Public Works does for the town. They serve the town’s more than 11,000 residents, coordinating garbage removal and recycling; bulk trash removal; street cleaning; snow removal and salting of roadways; maintenance of all municipal properties; graffiti removal; street sign repair, removal or replacement; maintenance of the Little League field; maintenance of our numerous parks; assisting the municipality with all public events; and much more.
In short, they are behind the scenes ensuring the high quality of life here in Guttenberg on a daily basis.
The American Public Works Association (APWA) has proclaimed that May 19 to 25, 2024 is Public Works Appreciation Week – an opportunity to thank and celebrate our dedicated DPW employees, as well as educate the public about the importance of public works in our daily lives. This year’s theme is “Advancing Quality of Life for All.”
Guttenberg residents are encouraged to say thanks to a DPW worker during this week. Let them know you appreciate the hard work they do year-round.
