Guttenberg Provides Free Food to Hundreds at Ongoing Farmer’s Markets
Posted March 15, 2024Guttenberg continues to hold a free farmer’s market once or twice a month in front of Town Hall, distributing fresh produce, canned goods, and more to local residents in need.
The most recent distribution took place on Tuesday, Mar. 12 with hundreds of residents and families lining up to receive free groceries courtesy of Mayor Wayne Zitt and the Guttenberg Town Council. DPW employees trucked in dozens of heavy boxes, crates, pallets, and bags of food and set them up on tables at 6808 Park Avenue.
Among those helping to hand out the free items and pack residents’ bags, baskets, and shopping carts were Council Member Monica Fundora, Events Coordinator Marisol Montanez, and numerous town employees and volunteers.
The event is sponsored by the Town of Guttenberg, Mayor Zitt, the Guttenberg Housing Authority, and Executive Director Ruddys Andrade.
