Hundreds of residents and guests enjoyed a spectacular evening of free food, gifts, and entertainment at the 3rd annual Guttenberg Block Party on Saturday, July 15.

 

Broadway between 69th & 70th Streets was blocked off in front of Centennial Towers, with grills cranking out freshly cooked burgers and hot dogs, plus there was free soft ice cream, ice pops, popcorn, snacks, water, massages, and so much more.

 

Music was provided by DJ Ziggy and Javier the violinist, enticing many to dance in the street. Others gathered at picnic tables to share a meal and hang out with friends and neighbors.

 

Mayor Wayne Zitt greeted attendees, along with Council Members Monica Fundora, John Habermann, and William Hokien, and many other town officials and employees, all volunteering their time to ensure everyone had a great time.

 

Numerous vendors provided free samples and information to the public and contributed to a raffle of terrific prizes. A couple drops of rain and a growl of thunder briefly threatened the proceedings but the weather gods saw how much fun everyone was having and graciously postponed the bad weather on our behalf.

 

The event was presented by the Guttenberg Housing Authority and Executive Director Ruddys Andrade, with generous sponsorship from North Hudson Community Action Corporation, Horizon, Peter Polcari, Kearny Bank, Beef Burger, El Sombrero Restaurant, Antonio’s Pizzeria, Pueblito Viejo Restaurant, Axiom Wellness LLC, DBK Chian Ent, Sosa Enterprises, Barquin Funeral Home, GSL Bank, Brothers Grocery, the Wayne D. Zitt Jr. Civic Association, and others.
