Guttenberg, NJ is home to the first urgent care medical pod in the country. The pod is a collaboration between the Galaxy Drug Store and The MediCentral, located in Livingston, New Jersey, with a team of more than 30 doctors. As with any urgent care clinic, patients can visit for diagnosis and a nurse practitioner will check their blood pressure, temperature, and other stats, and take down their information. Only instead of sitting around waiting until a doctor becomes available, the patient is connected immediately with a physician on a large monitor screen.

 

Critical needs, like bandaging or disinfecting after a fall, can be addressed immediately by the medical assistant. They can also provide injections. In between patients, the pod and all contents are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.

 

Best of all, it’s conveniently located right inside Galaxy Drug Store, so prescriptions can be filled instantly.

 

Walk-ins are available from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday or 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, with a break for lunch every day at 1 p.m. A second pod has already been installed in Newark, with dozens more planned for around the state. For more information visit themedicentral.com.
