Posted October 21, 2022Bergenline Avenue was host to a HUGE Hispanic State Parade on Sunday, Oct. 16, postponed from two weeks earlier. Crowds thronged both sides of the avenue as dozens of floats and countless dancers, singers, performers, and others paraded from 79th Street in North Bergen through Guttenberg and down to 43rd Street in Union City.
Marching in the parade were many representatives from Guttenberg, including Council Members Richard Delafuente, Monica Fundora, and Juana Malave, Housing Authority Executive Director Ruddys Andrade, and Town Administrator Cosmo Cirillo.
Joining them in leading the parade were North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco, Union City Mayor Brian Stack, West New York Mayor Gabriel Rodriguez, Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner, Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schillari, Assemblypersons Angelica Jimenez and Pedro Mejia, Congressional Candidate Robert Menendez Jr., and many other local and state officials.
The Hispanic State Parade is one of the many ways that Guttenberg celebrates Latine culture and history during Hispanic Heritage Month. This year 21 countries were represented in the 47th Hispanic State Parade of New Jersey.
