A Life in Art on Display Now
Posted October 05, 2021“100% Jersey Girl” Helen Frank says she was born an artist, creative as long as she can remember. At 91 years old, she’s amassed a huge selection of works in various media. Now a representative sampling of her works is on display at Guttenberg Arts Gallery in the exhibition “A Life in Art.”
Helen’s subjects are largely taken from life, as she always keeps a camera at her side to capture images that interest her, later reinterpreting them in etchings, paintings, or drawings. People and places fascinate her, especially her native Jersey.
As her press release states, “Helen Frank’s art captures the essence of New York and New Jersey’s artistic and cultural life. She has gained recognition for her works depicting the merriment and carnival-like atmosphere of the New Jersey shore and boardwalks, before and after Hurricane Sandy.
“She is also recognized for her work and commentary on the topics of women’s issues, cultural identity, daily life, travel, baseball, horse racing and dance, among many others.”
Following an opening reception on Oct. 2, 2021 the exhibition is currently on view by appointment only through Oct. 31, Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and virtually online. Patrons can schedule a visit or view the virtual gallery www.guttenbergarts.org/exhibitions. For more information contact matt@guttenbergarts.org or 201-868-8585.
