Two GPD officers were promoted and dozens received citations for their service at a ceremony in the Community Center on Aug. 23, 2021. In addition, numerous class 1 and class 2 offers were ceremonially sworn in.

Detective Marcin Rysiec and Police Officer Chad Smith were both promoted to sergeant and will now be in charge of patrol squads. Mayor Wayne Zitt swore in the two officers and offered his support and congratulations, as did Public Safety Director Robert White.

Evan Bringas and Emily Dubon were sworn in as class 2 officers, and nine individuals were sworn in as class 1 officers: Kevin Acosta, Cindy Alba, Bryan Dominguez, Frank Dubicki, John Gutierrez, Kamil Lis, Valerie Manzano, Brandon Oviedo, and Stefano Velorio.

Numerous officers were also presented with each of the following awards: Life Saving Award, Gallantry Star Award, Drug Buster Award, Unit Citation Award, Honorable Service Award, Exceptional Duty Award, Community Policing Award, and the 25 Years of Service Award.
