Pride Flag Raised Over Town Hall in 3rd Annual Ceremony

Posted August 13, 2021

Guttenberg Town Hall drew another sizeable crowd for the town’s third annual Pride Flag-Raising Ceremony on Friday evening, Aug. 6, 2021. Many attendees wore rainbow-colored face masks and apparel in celebration.

Councilman William Hokien, who helped establish and organize the annual event, thanked the mayor and other council members for their unwavering support of the event and the LGBTQ+ community.

With Town Administrator Cosmo Cirillo as emcee, Mayor Wayne Zitt spoke about the town’s dedication to diversity and equality, and Executive Director Elizabeth Schedl of the Hudson Pride Center noted that Guttenberg always draws some of the most enthusiastic crowds of any Pride event in the county. The final speaker was VeBeKA Rosario from Lotus Thai, co-sponsors of the flag-raising, who invited everyone to Lotus for a post-event celebration.

Once the flag had been unfurled above Town Hall to great cheers and applause, the crowd retired to 7007 Park Ave. to enjoy food and drinks in Lotus Thai’s expansive outdoor dining area.
