Police Fleet Adds New Special Response Vehicle
Posted January 29, 2021The Guttenberg Police Department has added a new vehicle to their fleet: a Special Response Team Truck.
Among the tools and equipment in the new vehicle are emergency blankets for cold weather; a generator for power outages; jumper cables for disabled vehicles; traffic cones and spotlights for crime scenes, motor vehicle accidents, and road closures; medical bags with mass casualty care; and standard patrol gear.
The Special Response Team (SRT) was created in October of 2019 and comprises eight officers of the Guttenberg Police Department. These officers receive training on a monthly basis in multiple different aspects of emergency response to include search warrants, active shooter, and emergency medical care. The SRT truck will be outfitted to handle a multitude of other service calls, including disabled vehicles, crash scenes, power outages, and displacement of residents in a time of a crisis such as a house fire. The vehicle will also be prepared to assist neighboring agencies if needed.
