Antibody Testing Available Now in Secaucus
Posted May 17, 2020An antibody testing site has been established at Hudson Regional Hospital, 55 Meadowlands Parkway, Secaucus. Hudson County residents only can call to make an appointment Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Testing is conducted on the same schedule.
Initially, healthcare workers and first responders serving in Hudson County will be prioritized.
To receive the antibody blood test, you cannot be experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. To be eligible, you MUST be a Hudson County resident. Call 201-388-1097 to make an appointment and register for the test.
You do not need a doctor’s prescription to be antibody tested – just an appointment. There is no out-of-pocket cost, but have your insurance card readily available to assist the screeners as they register you for an appointment by phone.
A nasal swab test for active virus will also be performed with the antibody blood test. You will drive up first and get the swab test and then drive to a medical tent nearby for the blood test. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing during the blood test as directed.
The body’s immune system produces antibodies in the blood to fight infection. Antibodies to a particular virus or bacteria are usually evidence that someone has been exposed in the past.
It is not yet known if the presence of COVID-19 antibodies means a person is immune, but testing data will be reviewed to learn whether those with antibodies remained healthy or became sick with COVID-19. This will help shape future healthcare and public response policies.
