More than two dozen of Guttenberg’s seniors showed up for an interactive presentation on “What to Know about Alzheimer’s Disease” earlier this month at the senior building. The well-attended event was conducted in Spanish, with a lively discussion and plenty of takeaway information, followed by donuts and refreshments.
This was followed the next week by a memory screening for Alzheimer’s and dementia at the same location. Both events were sponsored and conducted by the Act Now Foundation Alzheimer’s Resource Center of New Jersey, with support from the Town of Guttenberg.
Executive Director Cary Lopez, a co-founder of Act Now, presented the initial seminar and gave out pamphlets and valuable resource materials on everything from eating well for brain health to environmental factors both positive and negative, and much, much more.
The nonprofit Act Now Foundation was established in 2012 to improve the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and to offer programs and services that decrease the emotional, physical, and financial tolls on families, caregivers, and communities.
