Freeholder Anthony Vainieri and his good friend Santa Claus joined forces to light up the new tree planted in Braddock Park near the Palisade Avenue entrance. Hundreds of residents and guests attended the event on Nov. 29 to help kick off the holiday season, and get family photos at the festive event.
The tree is a 22-foot Norwood Spruce that was recently planted as part of the ongoing improvements to Braddock Park. It was specifically chosen because it should adapt well and grow significantly in the years to come.
Guttenberg Council Members Monica Fundora, John Habermann, and Wayne Zitt were among the many officials on hand to enjoy the celebration and the holiday carols sung by the North Bergen High School Chorus. Also attending were County Executive Thomas DeGise, Hudson County Sheriff Frank Schilari, Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez, Senator and North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco, North Bergen Commissioners Hugo Cabrera, Frank Gargiulo, Julio Marenco, and Allen Pascual, and dozens of other local and regional administrators.
