The local registrar's function is to record and maintain records dealing with births, marriages and deaths that occur in Guttenberg.

  • Births: Guttenberg has no hospitals; therefore, aside from home births, it issues no birth certificates or copies of such.
  • Deaths: The Registrar can issue certified copies of death certificates to relatives and officials who are directly concerned. In order to keep the voting rolls current monthly reports of deaths are submitted to the Board of Elections.
  • Marriages: The Registrar's Office administers oaths for applications and issues marriage licenses. It arranges for wedding ceremonies for those who desire to be wed in Town Hall. Certified copies of marriage certificates may be purchased five (5) days after the ceremony. They are legal documents that may be used anywhere for proof of marriage.
