Summer Concert Under the Stars featuring Quinntessence

As the summer season draws to a close, residents of Guttenberg were treated to a final Summer Concert Under the Stars on Tuesday, Aug. 31. Headlining the event was Quinntessence rocking songs from the 50s through the 90s.

The concert took place on Boulevard East between 70th and 71st streets. Performances began at 5 p.m., and Quinntessence took the stage at 7:30 p.m.

The Bronx Wanderers in Concert

On Wednesday, July 28, the township hosted a free community concert on Boulevard East featuring the musical stylings of The Bronx Wanderers. Residents were treated to an opening act prior to The Bronx Wanderers' 7:30 performance.

Academic Honors and Police Department Awards

On Monday, July 26, Mayor Gerald R.  Drasheff and the Town Council honored several local students and officers at the monthly town meeting.

North Bergen High School's 2010 Valedictorian Raider Alvarez and Salutatorian Brenda Argueta (pictured top center) were among the students honored at the meeting for their academic achievements. Their fellow honorees from North Bergen High School's National Honor Society included Rana Ferdous, Stephanie Herrera, Taleda Lopes, Evelyn Pereira, and Eman Abughanam. All the students are Guttenberg residents and alumni of Anna L. Klein School.

The Town Council also honored Sgt. Charles Huges and Police Officer Rafael Martinez as Officers of the Month.

Anna L. Klein School 8th Grade Graduation

On Thursday, June 24, the Anna L. Klein School Class of 2010 celebrated their graduation at North Bergen High School. In addition to family and friends, many Guttenberg dignitaries joined the celebration including Mayor Gerald Drasheff, and members of the Town Council and the Board of Education.

Recent Primary Election Results
150th Anniversary Closing Ceremony at Anna L. Klein School

On Monday, May 24, residents of Guttenberg joined Mayor Gerald Drasheff and the Township Council for the closing ceremonies of Guttenberg’s 150th Anniversary Celebration.  The Anna Klein School Chorus performed at the event, and several honorees were recognized for their contributions to the 150th Celebration.

 Among the honorees for the evening included Guttenberg’s lifelong residents Rose Gunther, Ann Keating, and Eleanor Mueller; Officers Leonardo Ramirez and Francesco De Lucia were recognized as Officers of the Month; and special honors for an excellent athletic season were given to the Anna L. Klein Lady Mustangs girls basketball team, and the Mustangs Boys Basketball team.

 In addition recognition was given to the 150th House Decorating Contest Winners Carol and Bob Gebhardt, and Rose Gunther. The Gebhardt’s 150th Anniversary banner was displayed at the closing ceremony.

 Honors were given to Joanna Torres, who was the Veterans Essay Contest County Winner, and Tevin Torres and Natalie De La Rosa, who were among the 150th Essay Contest winners.  Special honors were also given to all the eighth graders, who participated in the 150th Essay Contest.
